Duties

Help
  • Prepares analyses for integration into planning documents and processes
  • Develop and guide the implementation of National Monument Weed Management Area Plans.
  • Plans and reviews work to be accomplished by subordinates.
  • Leads employees that conduct field searches of sensitive, threatened, and endangered plant species.
  • Prepares are pesticide use proposals and biological pest control proposals
  • Responsible for the oversight and implementation of on-the-ground noxious and invasive weed control, monitoring and record keeping.
  • Collects ecological sit information for sensitive, threatened, or endangered plants as well as population distributions, condition trend associated species ect.
  • Determine factors limiting distribution and potential for enhancement through management measures.
  • Provides input and recommendations for implementation in land use planning, environmental assessments, and management decisions

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: GS-09 Level: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07. Examples of specialized experience may include assisting in conserving, preserving, restoring project natural and cultural resources; assisting in implementing resource management actions that promote biodiversity and native species; performing support activities that protect threatened and
endangered species; assisting in monitoring or habitat survey projects.

Education: Completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master`s degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in biological sciences or a directly related field.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. Education

Basic Education Requirement: This position has a basic education requirement that must be met to be considered for a detail or temporary promotion. To qualify, applicants must meet one of the below criteria:

A. A degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR

B. A combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
