Duties

Help

As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST (SOCIAL MEDIA) at the GS-1035-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as the lead Communication Digital Media/Strategic Engagement Specialist in the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) Office of U.S. Transportation Command (USTC).
  • Executes a comprehensive Strategic Communication program, integrating media relations, digital and social media, community/congressional relations and customer outreach.
  • Develops and releases online content, leveraging the full spectrum of available digital engagement to effectively disburse information to customers and audiences worldwide.
  • Serves as a professional writer in DP3 initiatives or special projects across a variety of functional areas to research and respond to complex public affairs or congressional queries.
  • Plans, organizes, executes and evaluates public affairs/communication aspects of DP3 information; liaises with USTC Public Affairs to amplify content on public / media platforms.
  • Collaborates with DOD stakeholders across the DP3 enterprise, customers and family members to identify requirements, develop products and channels include spouse networks.
  • Manages the DP3 customer facing website content through the use of emerging web technologies. Coordinates with DOD and USTC offices to ensure currency of web content.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Performing a wide range of oral, written, and visual communication concepts, and trends related to digital media.
  • Creating or managing content for organizational websites, webcasts/web chats, podcasts, streaming media or content for Web/social media technologies.
  • Developing and executing a comprehensive command traditional, digital or social media program that engages stakeholders and audiences.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
