Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Recreation Specialist within the Recreation Program Team involved with planning, organizing, and conducting facility recreation programs for the community.
  • Organizes, plans, and evaluate community programs that reflect community interests.
  • Works in executing community-wide recreation events, programs and services to meet the diversified needs of the community, including a variety multi disciplinary events, i.e.: social activities; tournaments and other major programs, etc.,
  • Develops and plans publicity using installation media.

Conditions of employment

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

Experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.

Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

HIGHLY PREFERRED:
1. Practical knowledge and experience in special events planning or administration.
2. Knowledge of preparing request for support to conduct events/programs that include familiarity
with Operation Orders (OPORD) and Fragmented Orders (FRAGO).
3. Experience in coordinating with outside agencies for support.
4. Experience in leading team members and planning groups.

Education

Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
