Duties

Help

As a Health Insurance Specialist, you will:

  • Participate in the management of the diagnostic and treatment benefits of a health plan and complex program deliverables through analysis and review of problems, issues, or Program requirements.
  • Collaborate with occupational health subject matter experts and interfaces, administrators and a diverse set of federal and contract staff on a wide variety of actions and problems.
  • Identify objectives based on an understanding of the Program, overall priorities, and related efforts in the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience experience resolving member issues and providing written recommendations/alternatives in the overall administration and operation of national health insurance plans (i.e., Medicaid/Medicare, etc.).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
