Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

  • Serve as an integral member of the Web Team to support the high-quality design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment and maintenance of agency websites, forms, and web applications by using current technologies (i.e., content management system, programming languages, video, graphic design, frameworks) and development methodologies adopted for use within OCIO.
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement technology web designs that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT operations.
  • Conduct ongoing operational maintenance of OIG's intranet and internet websites to ensure their security, availability, accuracy, reliability, and accessibility.
  • Implement and maintain a production website which complies with all required security standards and guidelines to effectively ensure its content is accurate and up to date, has high availability, functional production issues are addressed quickly, and website technology is continuously secured through software upgrades and patches.
  • Participate in small to medium sized projects to develop modern digital content concepts with the in-house design team in the areas of media, graphics, and videos for OIG's digital properties.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiencefor this position includes experience providingIT related support and participating in projects specifically related to Web Operations and IT security. Examples of such experience could include any of the following:

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, SharePoint, MS PowerApps, Dynamics 365, Office 365, and Power BI; OR
  • Experience using multiple programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET; OR
  • Experience participating on a development team using programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET;
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

To be qualifying, degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. .

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes experience performing IT work that involves analysis, development, testing specifically related to Web Operations and IT security. Examples of such experience could include any of the following:
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, SharePoint, MS PowerApps, Dynamics 365, Office 365, and Power BI; OR
  • Experience using multiple programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET; OR
  • Experience participating on a development team using programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET;
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes experience performing IT work that involves planning, analysis, development, testing & providing recommendations specifically related to Web Operations and IT security. Examples of such experience could include any of the following:
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, SharePoint, MS PowerApps, Dynamics 365, Office 365, and Power BI; OR
  • Experience using multiple programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET; OR
  • Experience participating on a development team using programming languages to develop or maintain web based applications that required SharePoint, Visual Studio, C#, .NET, ASP.NET;
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
