Duties

Help

As a Director (Cyber Workforce), GS-0301-14/15, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Coordinating with international, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners, and the private sector in advancing cyber workforce, education, training, and awareness.
  • Identifying gaps in U.S. and Federal cyber and cybersecurity workforce and develop policy and strategy to address them.
  • Ensuring stakeholder views are accounted for in national policy and strategy priorities.
  • Synthesizing the views of various executive branch agencies in order to develop comprehensive and coherent recommendations for consideration by senior agency officials and U.S. policymakers.
  • Leading project teams in planning, directing, and coordinating the development and implementation of policies on U.S. cybersecurity workforce development issues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

GS-14
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
1. Superior professional knowledge, education, training, and progressively more responsible work experience related to cyber defensive operational planning, resilience planning, and cyber incident response planning and related U.S. Government programs.
2. Extensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign economic, security, and diplomatic objectives and policies.
3. Comprehensive understanding of private sector security concerns and private sector relationships with U.S. government programs.

GS-15
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
1. Developing policies related to cyber workforce operational planning, resilience planning, and cyber incident response planning.
2. Leading cyber workforce planning development and implementation within an organization.
3. Overseeing plans to mitigate cyber threats and risks.
4. Communicating cyber workforce planning and views at high-level meetings.

NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.

NOTE: There is no education substitution at the GS-14 and GS-15 grade levels.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
