Duties

Help

Serves as a video editor and as assistant Director of Photography (DP). Edits and shoots video productions that creatively articulate NIST research, programs, and other activities. Brings technical knowledge and filmmaking excellence, to a video production and post-production. Provides a technical execution of video production and post-production. Provides guidance to other editors, reviews edits and provides recommendations.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

OR

Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.

In addition to the basic requirements:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST) in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in defined Professional video editing and shooting.

OR

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

AND

Applicants must submit with your application, link(s) to an on-line demo reel created by you with a reference to what was your role in production of each video that each demonstrate professional skills in creating a video project by filming interviews, b-roll and applying video editing skills using captured video/audio into a storyline sequence consisting of shots from the raw camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, music and graphics using industry standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple Final Cut)

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
