Duties

Help

You will perform a variety of task involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. The duties are performed primarily within the carpentry and painting trade, with other duties as required to support plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and water/waste water projects and operations.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures.
  • Works on projects such as building frames, rafters, concrete forms, wall, staircases, door and window frames, interior and exterior trim, and other miscellaneous items. 
  • Plans and completes work from initial layout to final assembly by interpreting and applying complex building plans specification, blueprints, sketches, and other guides and codes.
  • Performs a variety of work assignment involving brush, roller and/or spray painting.
  • Determines the methods and techniques, as well as materials and equipment needed to accomplish assignments.
  • Determines color and consistency of paint required and mixers and pigments, thinners, and oils to procedure paint that will flow evenly and consistently to insure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements.
  • Selects the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials needed at the worksite and determines how or what repairs need to be made.
  • Applies a full range of carpentry methods in accomplishing complex task requiring construction of irregular sizes, shapes, and angles with precise fits and accurate dimensions.
