Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

For the GS-05 level: Applicants must have three years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade. General experience is defined as one or more of the following: assisting higher level staff, supervisors, or managers with a wide variety of duties; and/orreviewing information requests and packages to ensure all required information has been provided;and/or performing clerical support work and handling documents and information; and/or using and applying information from manuals, technical handbooks, directives, and guides;and/or engage in fostering relationships with individuals in different functional areas.

OR

A bachelor's degree or four years of successfully completed education above high school leading to a bachelor's degree.

OR

A combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester / 90 quarter hours) and general experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.


For the GS-07 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: assisting higher graded employee associated with the development and implementation of programs; and/orcommunicate with managers regarding partnership program objectives; and/or assist managers in establishing and maintaining a communications network with internal and external customers; and/or draft agreements, recommendations, technical papers, or correspondence for customers.

OR

Have one full year of graduate level education;

OR

Superior Academic Achievement (go to this site determine if you are eligible: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

Have a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience.

You will be further evaluated against criteria for placement in the Quality category. This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Assessment Questionnaire.
