Help

The incumbent serves as a Multimedia Production Information Specialist in support of the HHS OIG Office of Communications - responsible for planning, determining, and designing multimedia items for HHS OIG. Products include primarily official photographs, graphics and animations, video packages, and visual products for agency briefings. Provides technical guidance and direction to staff on multimedia presentations.

  • Develops and designs healthcare-related multimedia, podcasts, or video packages and graphics with specialized computers and software programs using visual materials to emphasize, clarify, augment, or replace written text. Independently produces, edits, and coordinates approval of visual communication products.
  • Identifies and provides recommendations for opportunities to integrate visual information products into the short- and long-term strategic communications plan. Advises employees regarding policies, procedures and directives of management of the Office of Communications.
  • Provides leadership in the development of a wide variety of multimedia products, often requiring considerable originality, creativity, critical thinking, and an acute awareness of audience and functionality to effectively address each product's information objectives.
  • Advises managers and staff on the technical advantages and limitations of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction; performs reviews of other specialists, graphic design work; represents the Director at meetings; conduct outreach to promote the use of multimedia and graphic design services and analyze and test the integration of multimedia and graphics products and web applications.
  • Designs and develops highly complex, diverse, and sophisticated data visualization and multimedia materials, including video-based products.
  • Designs, creates and assembles materials for presentation, publications to capture audience attention and evoke interest and comments. Selects and utilizes the most appropriate desktop publishing, computer graphics software, hardware and peripheral equipment to complete the request.
  • Maintains the agency's multimedia library-ensuring imagery is catalogued and cleared for external and/or internal use. Coordinates release of imagery, as necessary and manages the agency's external video- and audio-sharing social media accounts.
  • Works directly with clients and customers to assess their needs, provides information or assistance, or satisfy their expectations. Is knowledgeable about available products and services; is committed to providing quality support. Customers are comprised of the entire HHS OIG community, including the most senior leadership.
  • Advises on the technical advantages and limitations of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, recommending those that most effectively address the information objectives.
  • Participates in and/or leads the development of multimedia and graphics-related performance criteria and systems and customer support requirements to ensure client needs are addressed.

GS-12: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience filming, editing, designing, and creating multimedia products including podcasts, public service announcements, animated videos, graphic materials, and studio portraits in support of major national communication initiatives.

GS-13: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience filming, editing, designing, and creating multimedia products including podcasts, public service announcements, animated videos, graphic materials, and studio portraits in support of major national communication initiatives; and experience independently conceptualizing and producing multimedia campaigns and managing a multimedia library.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.

Recruitment Incentives: Payment for relocation expenses are not authorized for this position. A recruitment bonus will not be offered. Repayment of student loans will not be offered. Private sector work experience may be approved as credit for your Annual Leave accrual.
