Summary

You will carry out supervisory functions, i.e. plan work assignments based on priorities; provide advice and instruction to employees; resolve employee complaints; identifies training needs; and evaluate performance.
You will conduct and direct the more unusual or difficult surveys and studies.
You will prepare technical reports on survey findings and recommends control measures in accordance with established guidelines.
You will provide professional Industrial Hygiene services and programs to all supported commands and activities.
You will investigate health problems that arise among workers, and determine whether corrective measures and medical surveillance are required.
You will utilize the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness Systems (DOEHRS) database.
You will advise management on the industrial hygiene aspects of facilities, equipment and operations.
You will conduct quality assurance, provide training, manage personnel, and assure department meets all implemented goals.
You will interpret results of site survey in terms of the nature of health impairment, worker efficiency, and work nuisance and present recommendations.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene is required.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: functioning in a supervisory or leadership role utilizing industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices to evaluate physical and chemical hazards; developing and implementing industrial hygiene and occupational health programs and policy objectives; supervising and/or leading personnel and providing technical assistance, overseeing automated systems; and providing quality assurance and training for personnel; and presenting written and oral recommended courses of action to high level management officials.

A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science that was accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable). OR
A Bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. The degree was accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable). OR
Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
