Relocation expenses reimbursed

You will perform analysis and prepare structural designs and specifications for a wide range of facility projects using structural analysis software and AutoCAD.
You will assess structural condition of facilities to develop recommendations for necessary repairs and modifications.
You will compose technical correspondence to communicate designs, plans and objectives to management officials, staff, and customers.
You will review designs of projects prepared by in-house designers, AE firms, or Design-Build firms for completeness, technical adequacy, functional design, sound engineering practice, and compliance with applicable design criteria.
You will ensure that the structural aspects of the project are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
You will provide structural engineering support to active construction projects including the following activities; submittal review, respond to RFIs, quality assurance site visits and inspections, commissioning, and project closeout.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State in the U.S., the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico is required. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your registration with your application to be considered for this position.
In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing engineering drawings, technical specifications and studies for the structural portion of civil engineering facility design projects; 2) Developing innovative solutions for structural engineering problems not readily treated by conventionally accepted methods; 3) Performing field investigations to verify and document existing structural conditions as a basis for the design of facility projects; 4) Managing structural engineering facilities projects from cradle to grave with adherence to budget, schedule and quality standards; and 5) Providing structural engineering support to active construction projects.

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
