Duties

Help

The position serves as a Supervisory IT Specialist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Office of Inspector General; Office of Chief of Staff; Office of Information Technology. OIG conducts audits, investigations, and evaluations of major environmental programs. OIT serves as the focal point for developing, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining OIG information resources management systems and provides technical direction to OIG staff located across the nation in multiple offices

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Leads the management, development, and improvement of OIG websites to establish a strong OIG web presence that will promote the organization's messages to Congress and the public;
  • Serves as the primary advisor to OIG management and staff related to web design and content;
  • Utilizes current Internet technologies, such as Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Internet server operations, Integrated Development Environments, and operating systems;
  • Advises website content providers in the appropriate use of the copyrighted electronic property on websites and ensures Internet services comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (section 508) and other related requirements;
  • Performs programming tasks such as coding the site, adding new features and content, editing navigation by using Javascript, CSS or HTML, logo and artwork, video and sound, and backing up the site.

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. Upon appointment, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually. 

Depending on your status, this position may require serving a 1-year supervisory probationary period.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

GS-14:  1) Determining overall technical design and structure of Internet services; monitoring functionality, security, and integrity of Internet services; 2) Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with the design and delivery of Internet services; 3) Experience in website management such as UI and UX principles including JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS, AJAX, usability, accessibility, typography, and information architecture; 4) Evaluating new Internet services and technologies; and 5)  Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Internet services.
