Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver content which creates an engaging, immersive, and user-centered web presence by understanding and meeting the Gallery’s users’ needs.  The Digital Producer is a member of a small team ultimately responsible for the digital experience of the National Gallery’s audiences, ranging from onsite visitors, to researchers, to educators, and beyond, in concert with our wider customer experience blueprint.

The incumbent:

  • Collaborate with a small team to manage day-to-day website content operations, implement new website initiatives, make strategic recommendations for UX and content enhancements, and develop appropriate plans, specifications, and metrics for success in consultation with the Head of Digital Content Delivery.
  • Serve as the lead web content administrator and central point of coordination among Gallery staff, website developers, and vendors as needed.
  • Advise on best practices around UX writing and design and role-model behaviors for the team and wider Gallery staff.
  • Develop and report on KPIs to measure impact and digital growth of the website and online efforts through Google Analytics.
  • Prepare, publish, and maintain content on the museum website, working with stakeholders, subject matter experts and content strategists to ensure content is accurate, relevant, on-brand and published in a timely way.
  • Work with the Content Strategy department in the delivery of digital content, including forming part of the editorial process, assembling assets, clearing permissions, commissioning, and writing.

Specialized Experience Statement:

Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-11 level in the Federal service, delivering content which creates an engaging, immersive, and user-centered web presence for an organization or major institution.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in digital content delivery, project management and/or user experience design in the commercial sector or for nonprofits, ideally with reference to the visual arts, museums, or cultural organizations.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in website content development and administration, content management systems (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Drupal), knowledge of HTML/CSS.

  • Demonstrated UX writing and communication experience, including leading and participation on cross-functional teams dedicated to improving UX through writing and design.

  • Understanding of the immersive potential of online experience, and experience producing and developing digital content.

  • Familiarity with and understanding of marketing, digital advertising, and design.
