  • Serves as the policy and planning authority and the expert advisor to top managers and outside officials on a management function or major extramural program for a bureau or major line component.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements policies that lead directly to the accomplishment of major programs.
  • Serves as the principal administrative advisor to the head of a major line component with operational responsibilities for budget, procurement, personnel, and/or other administrative functions.
  • Manages a significant workload of administrative work.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For the Band IV (GS-13/14), you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the Band III (GS-12) in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: serving as the policy and planning authority and the expert advisor to managers on a management function or major extramural program for a bureau or major line component; provides support to identify and execute action items, preparing documents, and convening stakeholders; performs and manages administrative work to include the operation of the budget, procurement, personnel and/or administrative functions; assign and review work as it relates to administrative activities; promote effective reporting and communication for data operations; and develop strategies for effective management and sharing of data.

Education can not be substituted at this band/grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
