Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Under the general supervision of the Chief, Civilian Operations Branch, serves as Supervisor, Transfer and Disposal within the Federal Records Centers Program. Performs backup duties in the absence of the Chief, Civilian Operations Branch, accomplishing the overall Branch program. Helps to plan, coordinate, and direct the Branch operations in receiving, controlling and disposing of records.

Duties

Help

As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVES SPECIALIST, you will:

  • Develop and implement plans for the transfer and disposal operations of the Civilian Personnel Records (CPR) Center and evaluate program accomplishments and utilization of resources.
  • Supervise a staff consisting of archives aids, technicians and a specialist, grades GS-2 through GS-9 and contract labor staff.
  • Analyze the organizational structure and procedures of the operation for possible improvements to the workflow and methods.
  • Develop and implement internal procedures relating to accessioning, storage, work measurement, and records disposal.
  • Direct continuing studies relating to internal procedures, workflow, manpower utilization, and management efficiency of the Branch.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes records life-cycle monitoring and communicating with external customers regarding the retrieval of records. Examples of this may include:

  • Analyzing records storage methods to preserve records. OR
  • Reviewing transfer documentation for accuracy.

OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., If related.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

Physical Requirements: All applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of this position. Some of the physical requirements are: climbing caster-equipped ladders and handling thereon boxes weighing up to 50 pounds that are stored up to 14 feet above the floor; considerable standing; walking; stooping; bending; and lifting.
