Summary

Serves as an Intelligence Analyst with responsibility for supporting the development, operations and sustainment of Mission Systems within the Mission Systems Division (MSD) of the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). These Mission Systems include Mission Control Center Systems (MCCS), Training Systems (TS), Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF), and additional Information Technology capabilities in support of human spaceflight programs.

Duties

Help
  • Gather, analyze, and disseminate cyber threat/warning intelligence and assessments from multiple sources, including other agencies and mission partners, as relevant to making FOD Mission System cyber threat determinations.
  • Synthesize cyber intelligence and information derived from a variety of computer network defense resources including but not limited to sensor data, system alerts, firewall and network traffic logs, and host system logs.
  • Integrate cyber and space threat reports, and create and defend technical analysis to ensure the protection of sensitive as well as nationally classified information and the protection of FOD Mission Systems.
  • Serve as an Alternate Special Security Officer and work with the Special Security Officer on the day-to-day access and management of FOD's Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • Establish relationships and participate in meetings with the National Intelligence Community, the National Security Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency on matters relating to FOD Mission Systems security.
  • Work with other analysts/specialists to research solutions and strategies for identifying or protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, espionage, sabotage or loss.
  • Lead coordination with other NASA analysts and FOD IT system and infrastructure personnel, and officials in other components of the local intelligence community, to identify cyber vulnerabilities, assess cyber threat impacts, and recommend solutions.
  • Serve on NASA's Cyber Threat Intelligence Working Group (CITWG) for an exchange of cyber information with CIOs, analysts, and other stakeholders across the Agency.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

  • performing work in a classified environment(s);
  • working with government IT threat data sources and analysis techniques required to support secure operations of Mission IT Systems;
  • applying a range of cyber and space security concepts, principles, and practices to fulfil organizational missions; and
  • understanding of customer and user needs, requirements, and test principles, knowledge of computer engineering principles and practices.
AND

If you are qualifying based on experience, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
