Duties

Help

This position serves as manager of the food preparation and service function of the Bowling Center. Supervises and directs the activity of personnel assigned to the Snack Bar. Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinate employees. Plans and performs training and development of employees. Evaluates employees' work performance, approves leave, and initiates personnel and disciplinary
actions. Prepares menus, determines quantities, components, and courses of meals; calculates prices. Prepares cost estimates,
establishes stock levels, and requisitions stock for use. Ensures adequate stock levels of goods are maintained. Develops complete
menus for dissemination to cooks. Maintains records, verifies cash register readings and reports against snack bar
requisitions. Establishes general requirements for supplies, stock menus, etc. and orders as required. Assures proper receipt and storage of stock and establishes control to prevent loss. Monitors stock levels to ensure timely replenishment of recurring items. Performs inventory at least monthly. Assists with preparation of monthly and annual budgets. Ensures all invoices are reconciled with NAF Accounting Office and that a!! charges for products are in compliance with the appropriate contract terms. Conducts end of month
inventories. Prepares, cooks, and serves food items for daily meals and special events as required. Operates cash register as required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Progressively responsible experience in quantity cooking; overseeing preparation of a variety of food items; menu planning and ensuring quality: control of food preparation; ensuring cost control, and inventory and storage procedures for food supplies and equipment; procures food supplies and equipment. Knowledge or dietetics, planning culinary activities, and portion control is also a requirement. Experience which has demonstrated the ability to plan and organize social functions for groups of people. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's certificate. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).


Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
