The Program Manager provides leadership for all activities and initiatives of the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation's (Udall Foundation) Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus® Program (Parks in Focus®). Parks in Focus® provides opportunities for K-12 youth to explore nature and our Nation's public lands through photography and outdoor learning.
Summary
The Program Manager provides leadership for all activities and initiatives of the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation's (Udall Foundation) Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus® Program (Parks in Focus®). Parks in Focus® provides opportunities for K-12 youth to explore nature and our Nation's public lands through photography and outdoor learning.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Education Programs, the Program Manager leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of all aspects of the Parks in Focus® program and monitors the quality and safety of all program activities. The Program Manager works with intermittent agency staff, interns, and volunteers as well as external partners to provide engaging virtual and in-person educational experiences including classroom visits, field trips, and overnight camping trips for groups of K-12 youth. The Program Manager works with external partners and youth-serving organizations in Arizona, and also oversees and supports seasonal and satellite initiatives in other locations around the country including, but not limited to, summer Parks in Focus® programs held at Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Parks. All Parks in Focus® activities incorporate photography as an educational tool for youth to learn about and engage with the natural and cultural resources of the public land sites they visit, which vary from schoolyards and city parks to national forests, refuges, parks, and other wilderness areas.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing all program logistics including the scheduling, coordination, and delivery of Parks in Focus® activities, trainings, exhibitions, events, and community outreach.
Recruiting, training, leading, and monitoring the day-to-day work of intermittent agency staff, interns, volunteers, and others engaged in Parks in Focus® activities; and providing input on their performance to the Deputy Director of Education Programs.
Developing and stewarding relationships with key Parks in Focus® partners including public land units, schools and youth-serving organizations, Tribes, and others, and serving as the primary point of contact for all Parks in Focus® partners.
Updating existing and developing new photography and outdoor-focused curriculum and program resources.
Producing high-quality written and multimedia materials such as annual reports to funders, presentations, videos, curriculum, event flyers, training materials, exhibit signage, photo publications, and social media content.
Overseeing the organization and use of program gear inventories as well as activity reports, release forms, attendance and evaluation data, photographs, and other digital and hard files.
Monitoring project and program budgets as established by the Udall Foundation to stay within spending guidelines.
Supporting the Deputy Director of Education Programs in identifying and pursuing new partnerships and other opportunities for program growth.
Supporting the Deputy Director of Education Programs in the development and implementation of a fundraising plan in support of Parks in Focus® initiatives.
Accurately implementing Federal and Udall Foundation policies related to records management, personnel policies, database management, and project administration requirements.
Effectively leading and serving on internal and external teams.
Enforcing appropriate internal controls and ensure that programs adhere to the laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the Federal Government and the Udall Foundation.

Performing other duties as assigned.
The Program Manager position is equivalent to a GS-12 General Schedule position with a salary range beginning at $80,436 depending on experience and education.
The position is located at the agency's Tucson, Arizona headquarters. Alternate duty stations are not permitted. The position is eligible for situational telework in accordance with agency policy.
Occasional (up to 25%) travel will be required. Work is performed mainly in an office setting, but duties will also be performed in outdoor, rugged, and even wilderness settings on a regular and recurring basis. Occasional evening, weekend, and/or overnight work will be required.

Award Scholarships, Fellowships, and Internships for study in fields related to the environment and to Native Americans and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care and Tribal public policy.
Connect youth to the Nation's public lands and natural resources to foster greater understanding, appreciation, stewardship, and enjoyment of those lands and resources through photography, positive outdoor experiences, and environmental education through the Stewart L. Udall Parks in Focus® Program (Parks in Focus®).
Provide funding to the Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy (NNI) for research, education, and outreach on Native American and Alaska Native health care issues and Tribal public policy issues.
Provide funding to the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy (Udall Center) to conduct policy research and outreach on the environment and related themes.
Provide funding through the Udall Center to The University of Arizona Libraries, Special Collections to serve as the repository for the papers of Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall (Udall Archives) and other such public papers as may be appropriate and assure such papers' availability to the public.
Qualifications

Ability to work independently to plan, organize, and coordinate projects, and to monitor and report on progress towards project objectives and milestones.
Superior oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, listen effectively, and engage with and inspire others.
Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, research tools, and online collaboration tools.
Ability to operate a private and, occasionally, a government motor vehicle. Possession of a valid driver's license, clean-driving record, and access to reliable transportation.
Technical Qualifications
A Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
At least five (5) years of experience in facilitating arts, science, cultural, outdoor, or environmental education programming for K-12 youth.
Demonstrated experience with developing and leading arts, science, cultural, outdoor, or environmental-focused curriculum for K-12 youth in either formal or informal settings.
Ability to assess and manage risks associated with working with youth in outdoor settings.
Comfort with camping, hiking, and being outdoors with groups of people for up to a week at a time.
Familiarity with current issues related to access and equity around public lands, environmental education, and outdoor recreation.
Knowledge of virtual engagement tools that may be utilized to support online learning with program participants.
Experience in at least two of the following areas: digital photography, videography, photo or video editing, social media writing, exhibit planning and curation, graphic design, or publication layout.
Spanish fluency highly desired.
Current First Aid & CPR certifications are a requirement of employment.
Education
