Summary

Duties

Help
  • Leads the research, design, development, deployment of enterprise-wide analytics solutions utilizing data science techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Provides advice, guidance, and support to junior staff on advanced analytics, data access, data quality, data governance and storage, and related areas.
  • Research, designs, and develops user-centric data visualization solutions that provide business insights to decision makers using modern tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau and other tools.
  • Develops and maintain effective working relationships with OIG staff at OPM and other agencies to share information and learn the latest developments in analytical tools and techniques to efficiently assist the OIG with mission-related work.
  • Planning, Organizing, and Presenting data science and data visualization techniques-based reports showcasing data-driven insights to organizational leadership and various program offices.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

    AND,

For the GS 14: You must have one year specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-13) or equivalent in the Federal Service (or equivalent) which includes experience in design and development of data analytics/science related products using techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, and artificial intelligence. Hands-on experience in using common data science tools such as Scripting Languages( eg: Python, R, SQL), Data Visualizations tools ( eg; Tableau, Power BI, Qliksense ) to develop data science products; ability to manage different aspects of a project such as conducting strategic and tactical planning , organizing meeting, design and develop documents and communicate the finding to leadership/customers.

Additional information

Relocation expenses will not be paid. Current OPM employees may qualify as an exception.
