As an Assistant Litigation Deputy, you will:

  1. Assist a Litigation Deputy in coordinating the work of a group of Enforcement attorneys.
  2. Act as the front-line supervisor of line Enforcement attorneys assigned to matters including investigations and litigations.
  3. Exercise technical and administrative supervision of a team of line Enforcement attorneys assigned to matters including investigation and litigations

Qualifications

1. Law Degree: Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B., J.D. or equivalent.
2. Bar Membership: Applicants must be a current member of a bar with a valid license to practice law in a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
3. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level, or equivalent, that has equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. AND

For the CN-71:

  • 7 years of related experience or 3 years of experience at CN-60 of related legal experience. Such experience must include experience as a licensed attorney or directly related in order to be creditable, (Law Clerk experience may not be qualifying experience for the experience requirements*) OR;
  • You must have thirty-six (36) months of specialized experience at the CN-60 level (equivalent to the GS-14 level) that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position.
Specialized Experience:
  • Experience conducting legal research and analysis and communicating legal concepts and issues both orally and in writing in the context of investigations and/or litigation.
*To be qualifying experience, Law Clerkships must be post law school for the CN-60 and CN-53. For CN-52 grade level, clerkships can be considered qualifying when performed at any level as long as the clerkship enables the candidate to successfully perform work requirements at the entry level.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • A trial period may be required.
  • A Supervisory trial period may be required.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
