Position is located at National Institute of Standards and Technologies, Chief Office of Facilities and Property Management, Safety office. The OFPM Safety Program Technical Specialist supports in implementing and maintaining a robust, integrated, risk-based Safety, Health & Environment management system in areas of occupational health and safety. Provides expert advice to managers and staff on safety/occupational health practices, processes and regulations. Performs HAZMAT oversight for NIST Boulder to include asbestos, lead, mercury, and other heavy metals. Conducts accident investigations and tracks corrective actions; conducts work place and constructions inspections, reviews construction/remediation plans and job hazard analysis', attends pre-construction meetings, and inspects sites for safe working conditions. Incumbent shall work with division members to issue appropriate permits for work being completed such as hot work, excavation, or confined space. Incumbent will administer OFPM-B drinking water program; reviews/updates safety plans and policies, develops/conducts training sessions in conjunction with Division Safety Representatives and Safety Embeds. Incumbent shall perform Contracting Officer's Representative duties and project management on safety related contracts.

Qualifications

Basic requirements ZT-04: All applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of the specialized experience at the GS-10 level (ZT-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as performing technical assistance, consultation, and guidance on the implementation of mechanical systems safety, safety equipment inspections, and safety workplace inspections during testing, renovation, and maintenance and construction operations. An applicant who does not demonstrate in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade/pay band will be rated ineligible and disqualified from further consideration.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
