Duties

Help
  • Manage the recertification and maintenance of missiles that provide air and missile defense.
  • Direct employees with assessing the readiness of missiles deployed worldwide.
  • Implement standards of work to ensure compliance with cost, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain an industrial equipment lifecycle management plan for missile maintenance.
  • Engage directly with customers of missile/aerospace programs and workload development for the organization.
  • Integrate programs and ensure compliance with American Standards for quality, safety, and environmental management.
  • Manage all areas of human resources for employees.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Must undergo pre-employment and annual physical thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a one year supervisory probationary period.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
  • Must be willing to perform Temporary Duty (TDY) outside of assigned duty station 25% of the time both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Must undergo pre-employment drug testing and random testing thereafter.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually.
  • Must be willing to accept a temporary position.
  • Must be willing to sign a mobility agreement to serve in both CONUS and OCONUS duty stations.

Qualifications

This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee, and maybe extended up to a maximum of 5 years. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be made permanent without further competition.

Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year if candidate is NOT a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) directing employees engaged in repairing, maintaining, inspecting and/or testing missiles; 2) ensuring scheduled maintenance and delivery of missiles occurs safely, on-time, and meets quality standards; 3) preparing cost, schedule, and quality reports from databases used to manage missile information; and 4) managing programs such as manpower, procurement, lean, and supply. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
