  • Serve as the Chief of Public Affairs
  • Directs the execution of a comprehensive Public Affairs Program
  • Represents the office with a wide variety of local government, public, civic, industry, education, and media organizations

  • Telework may be authorized. This position is Situational Telework Eligible (must reside in the local area) for up to a maximum of 80% of the time. Telework options can be negotiated and implemented after entrance on duty.
  • Obtain and maintain Security clearance (if applicable)
  • Hold an advanced degree (Masters preferred) and has grade-appropriate PME (Air Command and Staff College or Air War College) at current grade
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, policies, and practices of a DoD Public Affairs Program
  • Substantive knowledge and general understanding of 412 TW, AFTC, AFMC, DAF, and DoD programs and policies

  • May be required to work at locations other than the 412 TW Public Affairs office for similar reasons.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent will be subject to recall to duty and having to perform other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • The incumbent must be available to support operations in an exercise or contingency situation. May be required to work irregular shifts or overtime

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification Standards for General Schedule positions, Administrative and Management Positions

  • Knowledge of DoD safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of written/oral communication and visual information principles, methods, and techniques to effectively and efficiently plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate Public Affairs and multimedia activities.
  • Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to arrive at valid conclusions and offer meaningful recommendations to the PA team and Wing leadership.
  • Skill in producing written and visual information for audiences with different levels of understanding.
  • Experience supervising small to medium sized organization as well as plan, organize, and direct the functions/operations.
  • Substantive knowledge and general understanding of AFTC , AFMC, DAF, and DoD programs and policies.
