Team leader for Child & Youth Program Assistants at Entry, Intermediate, and Target levels. Ensures programs and activities are in operation and in compliance with applicable instructions, guidance, and policies related to child and youth programs. Provides care, supervision, oversight, and accountability of children and youth ranging in ages 6 weeks to 18 years of ages. Ensures accountability, safety, arrival/departure procedures, ratio compliance, staffing requirements, and provides any assistance or materials to promote an inclusive environment for participants. Works with Training & Curriculum Specialist, youth programmers, and activity managers to implement activities, programs, and special events to meet the needs of youth and their families. Target areas included physical, social, emotional, academic, and cognitive needs of children and youth. Works with team members to prepare, implement, and report daily activities, plans, and anecdotal documents. Engages with youth using guidance techniques. Interacts with staff, leadership, volunteers and families professionally. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children, conduct on-the-job training for team and volunteers, and provides input to supervisory personnel for program/employee management. Arranges for supplies, equipment, rooms, and facilities for activities; returns all when program concludes; and reports any damage or inventory needs. May be required to transports youth in government vehicles to/from program site. Completes duties/responsibilities to open and close a facility.

Qualifying Experience:
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) and must speak, read and write English. Must meet specific physical requirements, must pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate, and satisfactorily complete installation, state and national criminal background checks. Must satisfactorily complete mandatory training as specified below. Must possess maturity and good judgment and like working with children/youth and their parents. Employee must have a valid driver's license and have a good driving record if required to transport children.
SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENT: One year at the CY02 level (Target Level) or equivalent. Must have completed an Associate of Arts degree in early childhood education, youth development, or related fields or have a Child Development Associate credential or a Youth Development credential (must remain current).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
