Duties

Help
  • Provides senior-level technical review for high priority National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, including but not limited to Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Resource Management Plans and Amendments.
  • Coordinates with other resource specialists to determine the extent and complexity of NEPA analyses, and any resource monitoring and inventory efforts necessary.
  • Provides representation on interagency teams and committees as needed to discuss statewide planning, grants, management policies and procedures, and statewide initiatives and priorities.
  • Provides policy direction, technical guidance, and assistance regarding their inventory, monitoring, planning, construction and maintenance, interpretation, promotion, permitting, and management efforts and activities.
  • Develops and delivers technical assistance and training for subject matter experts stationed in the district and field offices in both formal and informal settings.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
A. Successfully completed a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR
B. A combination of education and experience. This includes courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

AND

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: working in the biological sciences, Planning and Environmental Coordination, or natural resources analyzing the effects and risks associated with decision-making related to planning and environmental analysis efforts such as Section 7 consultation, Resource Management Plans (RMP) and analysis documents including Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have:

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
