Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (BRANCH MANAGER) for the newly created TRANSPORT AND MAGAZINE BRANCH (M35), INDUSTRIAL SUPPORT DIVISION (M3), ENERGETICS MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT (M) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 ($138,868).

Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise to all responsible employees performing duties in the movement and accountability of hazardous/inert material, facilities, and vehicles on the Indian Head, MD installation.
  • You will monitor (storage) of materials including chemicals, explosives, and inert components associated with energetics production.
  • You will establish procedures for the safe transport of nonnuclear munitions to and from assembly, storage, and production sites.
  • You will set the criteria for the inspection of transport vehicles, and storage facilities in accordance with local and DoD directives.
  • You will oversee compliance and management of all Storage magazine inspections to include Inventories, Compatibility, Net Explosive Weight (NEW) and weekly storage plan updates.
  • You will ensure personnel in the branch are properly trained to safely and efficiently carry out their duties.
  • You will support a manufacturing organization.
  • You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing administrative and technical guidance for employees performing work involving movement and storage of material (e.g. hazardous/inert material; facilities; or vehicles) to ensure safety and compliance in support of a transportation program.
