Duties

Help
  • Process inbound/outbound inspection data through Transportation Operational Property System (TOPS), Defense Property System (DPS) and/or other required systems.
  • Prepare damage inspection reports completed at shipper's residence and completes monthly inspection reports.
  • Inspect contractor's performance at owner's residence during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating and unpacking.
  • Identify poor contractor performance, report repetitive violations and recommend punitive action.
  • Council and assist on a wide variety of transportation services to DoD personnel and their families.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operation certificate within 30 days of employment.
  • May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends or on-call duty.
  • Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 months.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To Qualify for the GS 6 level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing quality assurance functions such as observing work performance and detecting unsatisfactory procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

To Qualify for the GS 7 level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience monitoring, observing and evaluating operations, detecting unsatisfactory conditions or procedures and recommending corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
