Duties

Help
  • Provides highly standardized preventive, psycho-educational, intervention services for active duty military personnel and their families who have been assessed to be at risk for child maltreatment and/or domestic violence assessment.
  • Completes initial, and risk assessments for patients at risk for child maltreatment and/or domestic violence assessment.
  • Develops a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family and their unique needs.
  • Provides education on a variety of topics such as: ?Family Planning?; ?Proper Nutrition?; ?Shaken Baby Syndrome?, etc.
  • Prepares case management plan and initiates appropriate prevention plans and referrals for therapy with family and others, as needed.
  • Collaborates with military and civilian agencies to ensure continuity, and/or appropriate level of care.

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Social Worker:

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: conducting biopsychosocial evaluations for at-risk adults and children, developing family care plans, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure continuity of care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
