Duties

Help

As a Public Health Analyst, you will:

  • Conduct policy and law related research to evaluate highly visible actions such as laws and policies impacting public health service delivery, public health legislation, executive directives, policy issuances.
  • Develop reports or presentations and performs a variety of analytic duties involving public health and other program issues that contain complicating elements.
  • Analyze and/or identifies specific concerns or conditions of relevance and importance to the mission and activities of the organization and provides technical assistance related to public health issues.
  • Prepare directives, issuances, memoranda, policy statements, and legislative proposals to introduce new initiatives and to recommend effective operations consistent with overall program objectives.
  • Serve as a principal advisor in developing and formulating short-and-long range public health program goals, objectives, and policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience analyzing public health programs or policies to advise management on public health policies, operations, products or services.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The utilization of shared certificates within multiple Centers of the Center of Disease Control and Prevention may be used from this vacancy announcement for specialties to include but not limited to: Applied Epidemiology, Behavioral Epidemiology, Chronic Diseases, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Environmental Health, HIV/AIDS, Immunization, Infectious Diseases (e.g. Viral, Parasitic, etc.), Influenza, Malaria, Non-communicable Diseases, Outbreak Investigations, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), Surveillance, Tropical Medicine, Tuberculosis (TB), Viral Hepatitis, and/or Zoonotic Diseases.

The salary listed is Rest of U.S. (RUS); Locality pay will be adjusted to reflect location negotiated after selection.
