Duties

Help
  • Develop, organize, manage and implement the recruitment program, activities and function of the Schedule A employees of the Regional Office.
  • Develop a strategic plan for recruitment programs, operations, and goals for the Regional Office.
  • Conduct or participate in group recruiting sessions.
  • Analyze and monitor progress, performance and cost data of a recruitment program to ensure recruitment operations are within specified time limits and budget constraints.

For permanent Census employees, this is a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 1 year, this temporary promotion may be extended or terminated earlier. At the conclusion of the temporary promotion, the permanent Census employees will return to their position of record.

For all other Department of Commerce (DOC) employees, this is a competitive temporary appointment opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 1 year, this temporary appointment may be extended or terminated earlier. 

A probationary period may be required.

This position may be ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g. supervisory approval).

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:

For GG-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes developing and implementing a recruitment plan to meet staffing requirements; identifying recruitment sources to generate a diverse pool of applicants; developing recruitment material; developing, preparing, monitoring, and maintaining recruitment program files and reports; and implementing cost-effective procedures.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
