As a IT Specialist (Data Scientist), you will perform the following duties:
Serves as an IT Specialist (Data Scientist) to evaluate architectures, establish data use and standards, and improve the management of the climate, atmospheric, coastal, geophysical, and oceanic data archives and research information. For example, identify standardized data formats and metadata that better inform data users and automated processing.
Provides statistical analysis, planning & oversight to the design, development, implementation, monitoring & maintenance of system(s) used to support data management. For example, identifying and analyzing data pipelines which are then used to inform design decisions.
Analyze commercial cloud services, assist in the design & implementation of knowledge graphs, relational databases, and performs data access analysis design and implementation. For example, identify usage of knowledge graphs in improving data search results.
Apply critical thinking skills that allow data science solutions to describe & visualize business problems analytically. Evaluate & innovate to articulate various data science solutions in a meaningful way. For example, visualizing data workflow metrics to gain knowledge that is used for decision making.
Required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.
Must be suitable for Federal employment.

Due to COVID-19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. NOAA received notice of reintegration to occur on April 25, 2022.
