Duties

Help

In this position, you will serve as a Assistant Grants Management Specialist. Typical work assignments include:
  • Convey information about the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Visual Arts, Multidisciplinary Arts, and Literary Arts & Arts Education Divisions, and the Federal Grant application process to constituents who may wish to apply for funding.
  • Provide technical assistance and administrative guidance regarding the electronic grant application submission process and review timeline to applicants and advisory panelists, including work sample submission and review.
  • Provide administrative support for Programs & Partnerships, including the Visual Arts, Multidisciplinary Arts, and Literary Arts & Arts Education Division programs, such as preparing materials, organizing convenings, tracking tasks, and arranging travel requirements.
  • Receive, review, and process applications for funding, including organizing those applications for panel consideration, following through the NEA's complete review process. Assist with the collection and tracking of information from prospective panelists and drafting of panelist approval materials.
  • Research and prepare a variety of spreadsheets, presentation visuals, and reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and other database software programs, according to agency style.

To qualify for this position, you must meet following Recent Graduate Eligibility and Minimum Qualifications Requirement for GS-07 level.

Pathways Recent Graduate Eligibility

Recent Graduates must have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.

--OR--

As a veteran (as defined in 5 USC 2108), who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Program during the two-year eligibility period described above. These individuals have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may this eligibility period extend beyond six years from the date on which the individual completed their academic requirements.


In addition to qualifying as a Pathways Recent Graduate, to qualify for this position at the GS-07 level you must meet one of the following:

Minimum Qualifications Requirement:

A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-5 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:

  1. Applying laws, regulations, and procedures governing the administration of federal grants, cooperative agreements, and/or awards;
  2. Prioritizing and coordinating a variety of office activities, such as developing correspondence and other documentation, scheduling and preparing for meetings;
  3. Utilizing office automation to prepare reports and maintain records.

B. Have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND meet one of the following provisions of Superior Academic Achievement:
1) Maintained a grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum;
2) Maintained a grade-point average "B+" (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum;
3) Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision;
4) Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing your grade point average for all four years of undergraduate study, including all transferred courses.

NOTE: GPA's are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society.

-OR-

C. Have one full year of graduate level study, in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

OR

D. Have a combination of some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and have some graduate education but less than one year of education as described in C. However, you have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that when combined, equals at least 100% of the total requirement.
