If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located inCentral Islip, New York Typical work assignments will include:

  • Maintains district-wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation. implementation, maintenance, and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, voice and./or video format.
  • Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Plans, designs, develops, tests, implements and manages internet, intranet, and extranet activities, including technical management of websites.
  • Plans. creates and coordinates litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs.
  • Provides customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements.
  • Within parameters of component-wide guidance and directives, performs IT planning and policy activities focusing on USAO needs and requirements.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

Minimum Qualifications:
You must possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined?
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Provides customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized experience: For GS-2210-12 - You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service. You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service OR equivalent public or private sector experience performing the following duties:

  • Configuring or maintaining enterprise servers, hubs, VPNs, firewalls, internet intrusion detection, routers, switches, and wireless architecture components;
  • Using IT security principles and method to include Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and components to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems networks, or data; and
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems with the delivery of intranet services.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
