Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the Supervisory Staff Curator for the Curator Branch of the Collection Management Division (CMD).
  • You will perform a variety of routine and special duties in connection with the administration of the Curator Branch.
  • You will be responsible for the operations of the Collections Management Facility among other Curator Branch repository sites.
  • You will coordinate with the staff of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) concerning issues related to the Collections Management Facility.
  • You will supervise employees and direct the daily operations of the Curator Branch.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: I have experience as a supervisor in a museum setting managing multiple staff and major museum programs with demonstrated experience with museum collections and registration policies and procedures.

In addition to the Basic Requirements and Selective Placement Factor for this position, your resume must also demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, as a professional Museum Curator, performing most or all of the following: 1) Supervising and directing daily operations in a museum setting; 2) Planning and assigning work to staff members based on priorities, difficulty, and capability of employees; 3) Evaluating, assessing, and rating the performance of staff members by implementing performance plans; 4) Utilizing hiring, transferring, promoting, rewarding, disciplining and terminating actions within program branch; 5) Developing budgetary phasing plans, statements of work for contracting actions, and individual development plans for staff training; and 6) Coordinating with multiple facets of personnel for artifact collection and management.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

  1. Degree: museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    or

  3. Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown in A above.
