The Protective Services Office seeks a highly skilled individual to serve as a Security Specialist. The focus of this position will be assisting the Chief, Protective Services in the overall management and administration of contracted security services. You will be responsible for establishing, revising, or reviewing policies, procedures, and meeting mission objectives.

The Protective Services Office seeks a highly skilled individual to serve as a Security Specialist. The focus of this position will be assisting the Chief, Protective Services in the overall management and administration of contracted security services. You will be responsible for establishing, revising, or reviewing policies, procedures, and meeting mission objectives.
Establishes, revises, coordinates, implements, and advises on security strategic program development, planning, and policies across the Center.
Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, and mission objectives, to eliminate problems or barriers to mission accomplishment.
Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative, conducting surveillance and oversight for the Protective Services contract. Oversees implementation of solutions to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods.
Conducts security program evaluations and identifies areas for enhancement, providing recommendations to maintain or improve the quality and quantity of operations.
Coordinates with the Office of Inspector General, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies accordingly within the appropriate jurisdiction on criminal acts and/or violations of NASA regulations.
Serves as a technical expert and liaison in developing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholder partners in the government, private industry, and local agencies to further the agency's protective services efforts.
Assesses new methods, criteria and/or policies for developing security plans to include for major center events. Identifies and proposes solutions to security problems, critical to Center event planning.
Provides protective details, termination support, and emergency response when required. Supports the Emergency Operations Center during activation and planning for emergencies and large public events.

Qualifications
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Administering state and federal guidelines, policies and regulations regarding access to federal facilities to ensure security measures are validated;
Providing oversight of contracted security services and/or operations;
Identifying, resolving, and/or overseeing resolution of security issues.
