The FHFA Office of Inspector General (FHFA-OIG) is responsible for, among other things, conducting audits, investigations, and other activities of the programs and operations of FHFA, and recommending polices that promote economy and efficiency in the administration of, and prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse in, FHFA's programs and operations.
As a Supervisory Auditor, you will plan, direct, and execute audits related to the programs and operations of FHFA .
Summary

As a Supervisory Auditor, you will plan, direct, and execute audits related to the programs and operations of FHFA .
All candidates who are:1. Within the local commuting area and are current or former federal employees qualifying as Status Candidates, Federal employees currently serving on a VRA, CTAP/ICTAP eligibles, eligible for special hiring authorities (e.g., the Schedule A appointment for persons with disabilities, or covered by an Interchange Agreement), ; OR 2. Individuals, no matter where you reside, who are VEOA eligibles.3. Land Management employees eligible under Public Law 114-47.
Be responsible for the management of a group's audit program and assigned resources.
Assist in developing overall work plans, strategies, and objectives, including priorities for the multiple audits conducted by the group.
Set objectives for individual audits in conformance with national guidelines, and ensures development of quality audit plans by continually monitoring and analyzing national and local events to identify information changes, opportunities, and problems that may influence the particular assignments.
Coordinate individual audits with other agencies such as the Treasury Inspector General's Office, Government Accountability Office, etc.; and provides recommendations to higher levels of management for incorporation into plans or reports in support of FHFA OIG initiatives.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience: For the GS-15, You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:- Managing or coordinating complex performance audits. AND- Presenting findings in both oral and written format to successfully defend audit outcomes and to defend unpopular or controversial recommendations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the EL-15, you must have been at the EL/GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
Ethics: FHFA-OIG employees are subject to government-wide ethical standards of conduct, financial disclosure requirements, and post-employment prohibitions. In addition, certain FHFA-OIG employees are prohibited from accepting compensation from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for a two-year period after terminating employment with FHFA-OIG. Furthermore, to avoid financial conflicts-of interest or the appearance of conflicts-of-interest, FHFA-OIG employees may need to divest or sell certain assets they, their spouse, or minor children own or control, including securities issued by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or the Federal Home Loan Banks. Employees who work on Federal Home Loan Bank issues may need to sell or divest financial interests with any of the Federal Home Loan Bank members, which may include stock in bank holding companies, insurance companies, and other financial services firms.
Education
Education Requirements:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.
The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
