Summary

About the Position: Serve as Chief, of the Interagency and Civil Works Project Management Branch or as the Chief of the Navigation Project Management Branch. As Branch Chief, has oversight responsibility for the programs and project management activities related to the execution of the District's large, complex and diversified Civil Works and Interagency program.

Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the overall management of the District's assigned Civil Works Program by supervising a team of project managers from junior to senior levels.
  • Supervise and direct the project managers in their management of various projects through the control of the project parameters of cost, budget, schedule, scope, and quality.
  • Serve as an authoritative source to project managers for decisions and guidance.
  • Attend or conduct meetings, gives briefings, or makes presentations on behalf of the District's Interagency and Civil Works Program or the Navigation Program.
  • Approve budgetary estimates and justification to obtain Branch fiscal resources.
  • Review and analyze new missions and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding resources and manpower requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with program & project management of civil works/planning projects, and/or military/IIS construction projects, and/or environmental projects, and/or tribal projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
