Duties

Help

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as an expert specialist responsible for complex marketing and communication strategies, plans, and actions for an agency of the Federal Government. Keeps apprised of and uses innovative methods and techniques to achieve marketing and outreach goals.
  • Work across all levels of the agency to deliver effective communications, marketing, and outreach efforts promoting the agency's mission, programs, activities and services to diverse audiences. Develops and approves marketing materials using a wide variety of mediums and formats.
  • Plan, develop, and execute the agency-wide AFRH Communication Plan. Formulates budget estimates and participates in the planning, development, and review of requirements to support the agency's marketing, outreach, and admissions programs. Assists in the planning, development, and revision of policies, guidance, manuals, and processes.
  • Supervise two GS 11 Public Affairs Specialists and one GS 07 Public Affairs Assistant.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

  • Developing media relations with local and national outlets, or developing relations with Veterans Service Organizations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required

- Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
- Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
- Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
