Summary

This position is located in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), Financial Management Group (FMG).
As a Supervisory Financial Management Specialist, GS-0501-15, you will serve as a Deputy Group Director to provide leadership and executive direction for the planning and coordination of functions related to Medicaid and CHIP programs.

Help
  • Direct the activities necessary to ensure the successful completion of planning, development and implementation of comprehensive program management for the Medicaid financial integrity of the program.
  • Advise staff on approaches to, and leads as necessary, FMG engagement with states and other key stakeholders to advance effective working relationships
  • Serve as a technical expert on policy issues related to Medicaid institutional and non-institutional reimbursement, administration of Medicaid financial management policies, and the administration of related budgets and grants to States.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of the automated Medicaid and CHIP budget and expenditure systems.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1)Leading the development of financial management and operations for Medicaid and/or CHIP or other similar national or state healthcare program; 2)Participating in the formulation or implementation of an organizational program goals, priorities, and values; 3)Collaborating or negotiating with senior level officials or key stakeholders to provide oversight related to program administration; and 4)Overseeing work activities of employees or teams to ensure that program operations are met.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is a remote position; however, the Office/position reports to a CMS Office on a periodic basis (1-2 times per year). Requirements to report to the office will vary and can be discussed at the time of interview.
