Duties

Help

Creates, produces and coordinates a comprehensive program of publicity for FSS activities and events. Drafts, assembles and processes article and features to the base wide email, the base newspaper and other media releases. Assists in editing and proofreading of copy for errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling and content. Designs and performs progressively responsible illustration and layout. Coordinates and gathers promotional information from various activities. Provides photography support for 2 FSS. Takes action and staged photographs at various events. Edits and resizes photos for different media such as web, print, social media, email blasts, presentations, etc. Uses various software to produce documents and other products. May transmit and receive documents and messages electronically using personal computer or workstation that is networked or linked to other computers or workstations throughout the work area or organization. Writes and types a variety of material from rough or handwritten draft such as correspondence, forms, reports, messages, memorandums, advertising copy, promotional content, briefs, etc. associated with organization functions. Narrative material is clearly marked when containing revisions. Type's material in rough draft and in prescribed format as required and, after approval of drafts, types in final form. Publishes final form. Updates narrative, image and calendar sections of websites via content management system. Organizes and manages social media content. Performs a variety of general office duties such as receiving telephone calls and visitors, routing and filing correspondence, and maintaining files. Performs other related duties as assigned by Marketing Director.

Qualifying Experience:
Applicant must demonstrate e the ability to present factual information by writing news reports, articles, website content and the like. Knowledge of AP writing style is highly desirable. Applicant must have experience in responsible clerical or office work in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Applicant is required to demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in writing and be skilled in communication. Applicant is required to demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency with cameras and photography. Applicant is required to demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in photo editing with programs including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. Applicant is required to demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in web data management via content management system. Applicant must demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in writing as well. Applicant must demonstrate knowledge and experience in public relations principles. Applicant must also demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in social media.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
