U.S. Citizens and U.S. Nationals who are students enrolled on at least a half-time basis, or accepted for enrollment, and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.9 grade point average (GPA) or higher on a 4.0 scale; remain in good academic standing; and are at least 16 years of age.
Please note that if you are a Spring 2022 graduate, you will not be eligible for this Internship opportunity unless you are accepted for enrollment at a qualifying educational institution seeking an additional degree (diploma, Certificate, degree program, etc.) or an advanced degree. You must submit proof of acceptance along with your current transcripts for consideration.
As a Student Trainee (Financial Analysis) in the OCC Pathways Internship Program, you will:
Participate in developmental on-the-job and formal training to learn basic procedures and practices in financial analysis.
Learn and utilize programs/software to analyze banking and financial data. Research databases in support of analytical initiatives.
Create spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, screens, and spatial analysis such as maps and regressions. Utilize statistical software tools and other quantitative analysis tools such as SAS, Tableau, Python and SQL.
Assist in the implementation of new applications and computer-based technology to improve efficiency of data analysis.
Note: Upon successful completion of your internship, you may be eligible for conversion to a permanent Financial Analysis, NB-1160-III (equivalent to GS-5/7), which has non-competitive promotion potential to NB-IV(equivalent to GS-9/11). For information on OCC's Salary Structure, click here.
To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement.
Sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
Complete a one year trial period.
Provide proof of education (transcripts) prior to a job offer; an official transcript will be required if you are selected.
Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
Travel occasionally to attend training, as required.

Qualifications
You must meet the following Eligibility Requirements and Qualification Requirements by the start date of this internship.
Eligibility Requirements:1) You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows: An individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93-842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program. 2) Grade Point Average (GPA): Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.9 or higher on a 4.0 scale. An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university. 3) You must be seeking a Graduate Degree in: Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Insurance, Engineering, Mathematics, Banking and Credit, Law, Real Estate Operations, Statistics, or fields related to the position, such as Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Farm, Livestock or Ranch Management or Rural Sociology. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study, or 18 semester hours. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time time study at the school attended.
Qualification Requirements: To qualify for the NB-III level, you must meet the following requirements:
Must have completed 4 academic years of post high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
OR
Must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior academic Achievement Provision and completion of a Bachelor's Degree.

This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.
Following the completion of educational requirements, you may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment. In order to be converted, you must have completed educational requirements and work requirements (640 hours prior to graduation, unless you meet one of the exceptions described at www.usajobs.gov/StudentsAndGrads).
You must be able to work in Washington, DC for the duration of the internship if selected.
If you are a current OCC employee who previously received a waiver determination permitting you to retain bank securities due to extenuating circumstances, please note that this determination may be rescinded if the nature of your duties changes.
