Duties

Help
  • Responsible for processing all new student files using Department of Labor computerized recordkeeping system.
  • Responsible for all required forms to be initiated for each individual student folder and placement in the appropriate file or program, to include processing current photograph using current digital software.
  • Responsible for updating any and all student information in records as needed.
  • Responsible for entering data into spreadsheet or database software.
  • Maintains and accurately updates file system to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
  • Accurately purges files or performs other file disposition actions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promptly and accurately follows procedures for sensitive document control.
  • Makes travel arrangements in accordance with appropriate travel regulations for new students, students departing and returning to the Center on leave, students leaving due to termination, transfer, graduation and resignation.
  • Schedules transportation utilizing the most expeditious and cost effective travel route, and arranges tickets through the appropriate sources.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:

GS-04: You must have one year of General experience. General experience is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as answering telephone calls, filing, typing, checking e-mails, opening mail, routing mail, making copies and scheduling meetings.

2 years of education above high school.


OR
combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.


GS-05: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level; Specialized experience is defined as of the following: performed general clerical support, made travel arrangements for an office staff, provided front desk customer service, collected and reconciled money, and proficiency in use of office software including word processing, spreadsheets and email.

OR
A Bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school;

OR
A Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
