Assists supervisor in the economic and efficient operation of a fast food concept facility, which may include a delivery service, preparing party platters, specialty cakes, and dining services. Assists supervisor in managing and overseeing a cost-effective operation to include various food service activities such as: restaurants, snack bars, mobile canteens, concessionaires, and any other food service activity deemed appropriate. Responsible for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas in accordance with Catering Facilities and Banquet regulations of the medical department.
Ensures adequate stock levels are maintained. Requisitions merchandise and conducts periodic inventories to ensure all perishables are within the shelf life of the product. Participates with the General Manager in the preparation of a financial plan, budgets, inventories, cost controls, and related records and reports.
May assist in coordinating marketing promotions including day-to-day activities, or local and headquarters-developed promotions by displaying and distributing merchandising and signage. May oversee conduct of food service surveys and collate information to determine customer desires, demands and needs related to food service.
Performs full first-level supervisory duties which include initiating personnel actions, providing input on performance appraisals, requesting disciplinary actions, directing specific tasks and/or job assignments and related matters. Assists Manager in scheduling, initial training, continuing instruction and efficient utilization of personnel. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire, safety and other environmental issues. Assists in maintaining and enforcing security of funds, merchandise, supplies, and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.
Ensures food service personnel receive required food sanitation training and follows NAVMED policies and guidance for cleanliness and sanitation standards. Maintains ServSafe trainer certification and acts as facility trainer for ServSafe.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
CONTROLS OVER POSITION :
Works under the direct supervision of the General Manager, Food and Hospitality Division. Decisions made are on incumbent’s own initiative within established policies and procedures.
EVALUATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Three years experience that provides knowledge of the operation of a food service, Banquet, Catering and/or food concept facility as described above. Ability to become familiar with and understand Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) policies, orders and regulations relative to the work performed. Must be able to supervise employees in performance of their duties and to deal effectively with management officials and patrons. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
