Duties

Help
  • Conducting quality assurance on digitally reformatted publications.
  • Identifying and compiling bibliographic metadata about publications in all formats.
  • Organizes digital content according to program specifications.
  • Inspects and assess the condition of material.
  • Receives, unpacks shelves, and repacks materials sent to GPO for digitization, organizing by title, call number and/or date.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Library Technician, PG -1411-07, you must meet the following requirements:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must possess specialized experience at the next lower grade level (PG-06) in federal service: Specialized experience may include 1) Conducting quality assurance on digitally reformatted publications; and 2) Validating the quality of digitally reformatted publications against specifications; and 3) Identifying and compiling bibliographic metadata about publications in all formats; and 4) Editing bibliographic records; and 5) Organizing publications by title, call number and/or date.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (06/16/2022) to be considered.

Education

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Work Life Balance:

GPO Telework Program: The official worksite for the selectee is the duty station identified in this vacancy announcement. Locality pay will vary based upon the selectee's duty location. This position is Telework Eligible.

GPO Remote Work Policy: GPO offers a flexible work arrangement in which an employee can work most or all of the time from a different geographic area. Remote workers will be expected to be able to perform job duties on the date of their entrance on duty and/or the date of the telework agreement. Final pay will be determined upon selection with regard to locality pay and location of selectee. This position is not eligible for Remote work.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background for a Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to pass the background investigation.

The selectee will work shift 1.
