This position is located in the Safety Assurance and Risk Management Division, Office of System Safety (TSO-10), Office of Transit Safety & Oversight (TSO) within the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The candidate will work closely with partners from across FTA and will develop recommendations for senior leadership to drive continuous improvement in transit safety and further the implementation of Safety Management Systems.
Summary
This position is located in the Safety Assurance and Risk Management Division, Office of System Safety (TSO-10), Office of Transit Safety & Oversight (TSO) within the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The candidate will work closely with partners from across FTA and will develop recommendations for senior leadership to drive continuous improvement in transit safety and further the implementation of Safety Management Systems.
Participate in project teams responsible for conducting data-driven transit safety analyses, such as hazard analyses, risk assessments and proposed mitigation plans, and preparing reports and recommendation to FTA senior management and executive leadership.
Represent FTA by participating in research programs and other innovative initiatives that contribute to addressing transit safety topics and concerns and provide additional information for analysis and assessments.
Examine and develop project progress reports, financial statements and schedules and compare them with the latest approved budgets and schedules noting any significant cost increases and slippage.
Conduct risk assessments to include the identification and analysis of hazards using established industry quantitative methodologies, evaluation of the likelihood and impact of risk, and development of risk reports and mitigation plans.
Work with the safety data management working group and others to identify and prioritize action items and other safety data related improvements that supports SMS.
The ideal candidate for this position is a mid-level program analyst who has demonstrated skill in applying analytic methods to conduct risk and performance assessments and is experienced in developing and communicating conclusions and recommendations.
