This is a Modified Term position, not to exceed 13 months.

Duties

Help
  • Procure, produce and install native plant materials for ecological restoration
  • Survey for, collect, clean, and store native seed
  • Conduct greenhouse and nursery plant production
  • Plan and implement seeding and planting activities
  • Provide technical assistance on post-construction, landscaping, and recreational area plantings
  • Organize staff, contractors, and cooperators, including high school conservation programs and correctional work crews, in vegetation maintenance activities
  • Conduct outreach and environmental educational programs

  • Must obtain an Oregon Pesticide Applicator?s license within twelve months.
  • This position requires a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to work in adverse field conditions and occasional irregular work schedules.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position may require an additional State Background investigation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualified applicants will describe in their resume at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in federal service with habitat restoration and the identification of plant species.
OR
Have completed a one full year of graduate school in related field such as botany, forestry, or ecology. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours. (Note: You must include a copy of your transcripts with your application package)
OR
Have a combination of the specialized experience and graduate education. When combining education and experience, first take the number of graduate-level semester credits (or equivalent) earned divided by 18 semester credits (or equivalent); then take the number of months of experience divided by 12 months; finally add the two percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must include a copy of your transcripts with your application package)

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
