Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for the supporting and executing operations of 20 to 30 marketing meetings, conferences, and STEM events a year throughout the United States and abroad.
  • You will be the marketing representative of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) at many of the exhibits.
  • You will work effectively with NRL public affairs staff, business units, and directly with scientists to develop logistics and marketing timelines.
  • You will communicate well to leadership and the broader NRL Community.
  • You will manage many complicated logistics within very tight deadlines to coordinate between local, national and sometimes international shows.
  • You will assist in managing and executing the conferences/exhibit budget and contracts.
  • You will support leadership in preparing budgetary proposals, managing the operation of the approved budgets, or providing ideas to continually improve stewardship of the exhibits and STEM funds.
  • You will travel frequently locally and nationally. You will sometimes travel internationally to oversee the installation and removal of exhibits and to physically represent NRL at these events.
  • You will be responsible for assisting in coordinating the purchase order/contracts needed for booth space and necessary furnishings for booth and for packing up and shipping all exhibits and associated materials.
  • You will assist in ensuring seamless branding integration with an "eye" for an attractive final product.
  • You will produce imaginative preliminary designs for exhibits for the intended audience.
  • You will stay abreast of new developments, new trends in displays, and new ideas.
  • You will assist in maintaining records for the exhibit program by developing files on each event, recording where and when each NRL exhibit has been displayed, and writing trip reports when appropriate or requested.
  • You will keep photographic prints of all displays and visuals used on current exhibits and updates structures when necessary.
  • You will note and report on any specific return on investment directly related to present or previous conferences.
  • You will maintain communication with other government agencies and provate institutions involved in the NRL exhibit programs or interagency exhibit agreements.
  • You will apply marketing technical information to various audiences.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes at least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-1/4) or pay band (NO-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) Supporting and executing marketing meetings, conferences and STEM events and keeping notes on event information for future use; (2) Managing logistics of travel and shipping for conferences; (3) Performing marketing tasks including final display products for maximum appeal by introducing different marketing information to various audiences; (4) Managing and executing the conferences/exhibit budget and contracts; and (5) Assisting in coordinating the purchase order/contracts needed for booth space and necessary furnishings for the booth and for packing up and shipping exhibits and associated materials.

Education

The following can be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualification requirements of this position:

4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree
or
a combination of education and experience totaling 100%.
