Qualifications

Open to U.S. Citizens/Nationals who have completed a degree or certificate from a qualifying education institution within the previous 2 years or are within 4 months of graduating and are able to start the position in June 2022. Veterans unable to apply within 2 years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation have a full 2-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. The eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. The eligibility period for veterans must be within 6 years of degree completion. Pathways is an Excepted Service Appointment, Schedule D, 5 CFR Part 362, and may NOT be combined with other Excepted Service Appointment. (e.g, Schedule A).

Upon selection into the program, participants will work to complete a systematic three (3) year program of instruction and professional learning experience in:

  • Coordinating information sharing and Collaboration with internal and external customers
  • Planning and directing agency wide projects and programs
  • Conducting program review and business analyses
During the first 2 years of the program, they will be assigned to a master development plan (MDP) that includes progressive training and on the job experience. During the 3rd year of the program, participants will spend a majority of their time working on tasks and projects to round out their experience and become experts in their field.



To qualify for the Program Planner (Recent Graduate), PG -0301-7, you must meet the following requirements:

This is a graduate program developmental position description. The GPO Recent Graduates Program will have a two (2) year probationary/trial period for the series, 0301. This is an Excepted Service appointment; and the selectee may be converted to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service upon successful completion of the 2 (two) year-career development probationary trial period. This position serves as a lead-in to the next higher graded PG-0301-09,. This position will provide Training and Development, Mentorship, and establish an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to create and track career planning, professional development, and training activities. In this position, the graduate will be provided at least 40 hours of formal, interactive training during the two (2) year of the program.

GPO's Recent Graduate Development Program provides developmental work experiences within the agency and is intended to promote careers in the Federal service. Selected applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career at the GPO.If you successfully complete the program, you may be converted to a term or permanent position. (Note: To determine your Eligibility for the Recent Graduate Program, you must include a copy of your official or unofficial Transcripts, NOT DIPLOMA) showing award of degree.The Recent Graduate Program requirements are as follows:
  • You must be a Recent Graduate who has been awarded a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certification with a 3.0 Grade Point Average from a qualifying educational institution. OR
  • You must be a Veteran who was unable to apply within two years of receiving the degree, due to military service obligation. You have as much as six years after degree completion to apply.
  • Your degree will be conferred and you will officially graduate from your degree program within 90 days of the closing date of this announcement.
  • A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or (3) honor society membership

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a suitability,.
