Duties

Help
  • Serve as a project officer on biomedical informatics contracts.
  • Identify informatics needs of clinical researchers and cancer biologists and translate those needs into system requirements.
  • Develop software to perform common analytical bioinformatics tasks.
  • Serve as a liaison between program leads and CBIIT staff.
  • Analyze software project accomplishments in order to plan future projects and programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirement:
In order to meet the Basic Requirements for a Biomedical Informatics Project Manager, GS-0601, you must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to meeting the Minimum Education Requirement, you must meet the following Qualification Requirement:
In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing software, databases, and portals that process, store, or serve biomedical data; identifying program needs and translating them into biomedical informatics goals; evaluating the performance of existing biomedical informatics technology projects and programs relative to current and future requirements; developing or implementing pipelines to receive, assess, and deposit data in systems; developing standard operating procedures for the submission of clinical or genomic data; and participating in the administration of biomedical informatics contracts.
